Award in Conflict Management

Course aim is to develop the skills and knowledge of managing conflicts at work place.
This award has been designed in conjunction with conflict management specially in the licensed retail sector. Incidents of workplace violence can range from the relatively minor problems of people causing nuisance in a premises, for example through unacceptable levels of swearing, to serious incidents involving physical abuse and damage to property.
Entry Requirements
There is no specific experience and learning is required to undertake this course., However, basic literacy and numeracy skills are required for learning and assessment.
Course Structure
Conflict Management course consists of 8 hours (1 day) of guided learning and covers the following
1. Principles of conflict management
2. Recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations
3. How to communicate effectively in emotive situations and deescalate conflict ?
4. How to develop and use problem solving strategies for resolving conflict ?
5. Good practice to follow after conflict situation

Test
Learners are tested by the written multiple choice examination at the end of the step by step learning of 8 hours. Examination papers are set and assessed externally by the awarding body.
